Getting started with Active Workspace, powered by Meraki.

Hi 👋Welcome to Active Workspace. The below is an easy-to-digest set of instructions for equipping your Meraki dashboard for Active Workspace. Unlike Ikea flat pack at 1am the night of moving into your new place, this should be pretty stress-free. The best part? The Active Workspace team are on-hand as much, or as little as you need.

Prerequisites 🦾

Here's what you need to unleash the power of Active Workspace:

  1. Compatible Meraki Hardware - MR's with location scanning

  2. Floorplans must be included on the Meraki dashboard

  3. MR's must be accurately marked on the Meraki dashboard floorplans

Let's Get Started! 🧠

Step 1 👉

You will need to ensure you're a Meraki dashboard admin to successfully  complete the below steps.

Instruction:

​

  • Head over to the Cisco Meraki Dashboard here.

  • Organization > Administrators

 

From here, you'll have visibility of accounts that have Organization privileges. The below steps will need to be done from any Admin account holder.

Step 2 👉

Wow. We're breezing through this faster than NASA's WiFi speeds.

​

Let's get the Location tracking enabled next.

Instruction:

​

  • Head over to the Cisco Meraki Dashboard here.

  • Network-wide > General

  • Locate 'Location and scanning'

  • Enable Analytics

  • Add the Post URL & Secret provided by the Imatik team

  • Change the 'API Version' to V3

  • Change the 'Radio Type' to WiFi

  • Click 'Validate'

Step 3 👉

We're now onto the Magic Number, three.

We're going to enable API access here.

​

Instruction:

​

  • Head over to the Cisco Meraki Dashboard here.

  • Organization > Settings

  • Locate 'Dashboard API access'

  • Enable API Access

Step 4 👉

Fore! 🏌️

​

Here comes the API Key!​

Instruction:

​

  • Head over to the Cisco Meraki Dashboard here.

  • In the top right corner, click your email address

  • Select 'My profile' on the dropdown

  • Generate API Key

Step 5 👉

Finally!

​

Lets's send through the API key to Imatik's plugin so your access to Active Workspace can begin!
